Default Google has released it's own browser called Google Chrome, Posted September 3rd, 2008, 04:34 AM #1 (permalink) |
Google has released the very first beta of their new web browser, Google Chrome. Chrome is a browser that, for now at least, is focused on offering a full browsing experience within a minimalistic user interface. To skip past the P.R. phrasing, Google Chrome is designed to be simple to use without sacrificing any of the features required for daily web browsing.

To get a little more in depth, Google Chrome uses the same rendering engine as Apple's Safari browser, named Webkit. In recent history, the developers of Webkit have made great strides in creating what is, as of today, the fastest browser engine in terms of rendering speed. Google Chrome, currently version 0.2.149.27, seems to use a slightly older build of Webkit (version 525.13, to be precise), however, so some of the recent Webkit development gains will not have made it into the first release of the browser.

Other features of Chrome include a dynamic tab system which allows you to drag and drop tabs inside and outside of the browser window, an "incognito mode" in which the sites you visit are not added to your browsing history, and feature similar to Opera's Speed Dial, in which you are presented with your nine most visited websites, in thumbnail form, when opening a new tab.

If you wish to give Google Chrome a try, click the download link below.

Well, Im using it right now. Not really a Bad thing. The interface and browsing is pretty much of a good experience. Yes its indeed true that they are providing a browser with minimalistic user interface yet a good thing. I found this thing over the net saying its huge fast and all. May be doshomik is loading faster than FF. But I dont think i can be a judge with a broken net line. lol.

Google Chrome beats Firefox, IE, Safari

And while Im editing stuffs here at quick reply box they r showing BB Codes.

Don't run 2 installer at the same time.

hmmm yet another browser to deal with. Google released their browser with the intention that it'll find some IE users. But problem is IE users (those who didnt even moved to firefox) will not move to this browser either. This browser will take some/few share from firefox. As Mozilla & Google are close ally, it'll be interesting to watch.

The dust hasn’t even settled on Chrome’s release and already Mozilla is feeling the pressure. today the released a series of benchmarks showing Firefox 3.1 will be faster than anything Google can muster with Chrome. Chrome is running V8, an open source Javascript engine, which Google claims, is faster than anything currently offered on the Web.

But in the upcoming release of Firefox 3.1, which should be available by the end of the year, Mozilla will employ TraceMonkey, a new engine that according to one of its coders, Brendan Eich, will easily eclipse even the fastest instance of Chrome.

To prove it, Mozilla tested Firefox running on TraceMonkey and compared it to Google’s Chrome beta using its own benchmarking solution called SunSpider. According to the company, Chrome was 28 percent slower on Windows XP and 16 percent slower on Windows Vista.

So lets see who will win here & who'll lose the market share..

Here what mozilla is showing (from http://weblogs.mozillazine.org/roadm...ey_update.html)

We have been busy, mostly fixing bugs for stability, but also winning a bit more performance, since TraceMonkey landed on mozilla-central, from which Firefox 3.1 alpha-stage nightly builds are built. Tonight's builds include a fix for the bug that ilooped a SunSpider test (my apologies to those of you who suffered that bug's bite).

But what I'm sure everyone wants to know is: how do we compare to
