Ahem, Shall I talk about my famous LA.. lol.

There are few cities that offer as much entertainment, excitement and diversity as do the attractions in Los Angeles. For years movies and songs have portrayed LA as the place to make it big as a model, actor or musician. Hopefuls pack their bags and leave their homes for the promise of lure and fame.

Hollywood, California, where stardom lays just a breath and a dream away. This mecca of wanderlust, fantasy, and decades of celluloid whimsy is as beautiful and magical in its reality as in the wishes of millions who step into the city each year.

The Walk of Fame, located in Hollywood, is a tribute to the history of the Hollywood-based entertainment industry. It honors stars that have made significant contributions in categories such as radio, television, motion pictures, recording and live performance.

Universal Studios Hollywood is a movie studio in Universal City, California, and is the original Universal Studios theme park.

With over 100 rides, Six Flags Magic Mountain is one of L.A.'s most popular family theme parks.

Magic Mountain features some of America's most thrilling water rides and roller coasters, including Colossus, Viper, Flashback, Goliath, X, Deja-Vu and the all-new Scream!

Too many pics. I'll post the other places later.

Florida...KEY WEST

Key West Florida is home to its own unique style. Key West hotels range from Victorian cottages to lush garden resorts. While things get booked ahead during major events and holidays, wherever you make your Key West vacation residence, this friendly and easy-going community in its lovely surroundings will make you feel right at home.

One local who opened her home to the world was Peggy Mills. For 49 years, she tended her “secret garden” of bromeliads, mangos, balsas, breadfruit, palms, lilies, hibiscus, bougainvillea, orange jasmine, and magnolias. Today her private residences nestled in this lush setting now make up the Gardens Hotel.

The Gardens Hotel’s Bahamian-style complex is made up of seventeen suites and rooms in the main house (listed in the National Register of Historic Places), carriage houses, and a secluded hideaway cottage. The gardens feature an outdoor bar and pool, as well as four 1-ton earthenware rain catchers from Spanish-colonial era Cuba. Winding brick pathways connect the rooms, which feature flat-screen televisions, oak floors, mahogany furnishings, brass beds, and marble bathrooms. The master suite has a cathedral ceiling, Jacuzzi, sauna, and private balcony. The complementary breakfast includes Key lime beignets and the house special blend vanilla coffee.

Dry Tortugas and Fort Jefferson

Dry Tortugas: Many believe the Florida Keys end in Key West. However, this is just the end of US1. The chain of the Florida Keys continues for a further 70 miles west. The very end islands being the Dry Tortugas.
The Islands were first discovered by Spaniard Ponce De Leon in 1513. He named them Las Tortugas (The Turtles) due to the abundance of sea turtles. The word ‘Dry’ was soon added to mariners’ charts to warn of the lack of fresh water. The first construction on Garden Key, in 1825, was a lighthouse to warn sailors of rocky shoals.

Fort Jefferson, the largest brick building in the western hemisphere
: After the war of 1812 the United Sates of America began construction of a chain of coastal defense forts
stretching from Maine to Texas.

Construction of Fort Jefferson began in 1846. The United States knew it could control navigation to the Gulf of Mexico and protect Atlantic bound Mississippi River trade by fortifying the Tortugas. Construction continued for over 30 years but the Fort, which covers 11 of the key’s 16 acres, was never finished.
During the Civil War the fort was a military prison for captured

deserters. It also held the 4 men convicted of complicity in President Abraham Lincoln’s assassination in 1865, the most famous being Dr. Samuel Mudd. The Fort was plagued with construction problems and Yellow Fever epidemics. The invention of the rifled cannon made the Fort obsolete, as its thick walls could now be penetrated. The Army finally abandoned Fort Jefferson in 1874.

In 1908 the area became a wildlife refuge to protect nesting birds from egg collectors. In 1935 Fort Jefferson was proclaimed as a National Monument but it was not until 1992 that Dry Tortugas reached its current status as a National Park. Today the park is staffed by a team of about a dozen park rangers. They live year round in accommodations built into the casemates of the fort. It is an isolated duty and many do not stay more than a couple of years. Their jobs include law enforcement, maintenance and basic support and protection, above and below the water, of the 100 square mile park.
There is a self guided tour of the Fort set up by the National Park Service.
Tour time is approx. 45 minutes.
