Default BD's Foreign Strategy with Neighbors and others, Posted February 22nd, 2007, 04:28 AM #1 (permalink) |
Bangladesh is our beloved motherland. It's a small country yet the most beautiful one. It also has a lot of importance due to its geographic position. Often we see Bangladesh is the losing side after bilateral / multilateral meetings takes place with its neighbors.

Is there any fundamental mistake with our country's Foreign Politics ? What do you think ?
How should our strategy be when BD is dealing with super power neighbors like India and Pakistan ?
What about when BD deals with rest of the world ?

Let us share our views.

yep,we do too much to attract foreign aid.and we are too nice with India when it comes to solving problems.
and we allow the foreigners interfere too much in our...Republic.besides to the top of them we got laws, which weren't established by us.i.e the English common law.

Yes indeed our govt. allows foregners to interfere in our country's matter and yes to get foreign aid of a very little amount our govt. gives enough space to its neighbors so that BD becomes the loser in each of the bilateral meetings with them.

regarding recent foreign interventions :

look at bd now, now remember wht bd was three months ago

does any1 here seriously think foreign diplomats' interventions into bd politics was anti-productive for bd ?

now back to the thread at hand:

yes, bd foreign policy does have it shortcomings

IMO bd relies too much on foreign aid

and regarding foreign policies with pakistan and india, bd politicians may look to desensetize the border with india, and also look to settle (in its favour of course) some of the trade issues with her giant neighbour

as regards to pakistan: one feels tht bd diplomats ud do well to go along with the present strategy of appeasing the dictatorship present there in light of the back-up they have at their disposal in the form of the us of america
