here is the reason...

#following individuals are termed as mother / motherly / mother-like for humans

1. one who gives birth
2. one who helps conceive ... e.g. nurse
3. one who's milk is fed to the children
4. one who nurture the children in the absence of the mother . e.g. : babysitters , dai-ma etc
5. parental relatives
6. teacher's wife

by the 3rd law, someone is asked to honour the cow as its mother, if he had grown up on cow milk ... i suppose thats most of our population. if someone was fed goat's milk while he was a child, mutton becomes halal for him....

Bob seems to be understanding.
I feel that it's better not to justify pig being haram because all these associated problems that may arise upon consumption. because pig will still be disallowed even if its made the safest to our health.
Many Muslims woudn't even bother to inquire why pig is forbidden because it is clearly stated in the quran. nd i beieve this animal is someway beneficial to the ecology as nothing was created in vain. we also have to remember that not everything is for our own survival.
