There was a time, again and again
I did think how nice it had been
you and I, more than just a friend
but maybe - that was wishful thinking
Even when I had to put us away
not to be recalled, not even for a day
telling my head and heart what to say
how silly - that was wishful thinking
Lifetimes passed and here we are now
with a few questions, mostly 'why' somehow
what is truly felt, what can we allow
where is - any wishful thinking.
