We all know the populerity of windows xp service pack 2.
just this service pack increased windows popularity by 40%.
This is the pack one must have for its security and reliability. But now a days in bangladesh u will not find a seperate service pack in cd service.U will only find windows xp installation cd upgraded with sp2.
so the only way to install into a computer that has xp installed is to download it. But its unimaginative in our internet speed.

I have found a lot of "wise" network admin's suggesting clean installation which is very time consuming and annoying for normal users.

so what does normal users do?

here is the answer to that question. U can install sp2 easily with the windows xp installation cd with sp2 without having to perform clean install.

Requirements: windows xp installation cd with service pack 2, A pc running windows xp.

Steps:

first of all, Boot and insert windows xp cd. then it will autorun and welcome will appear.
select Install windows xp
then choose upgrade as the installation style. then setup will prompt for product key. type it and go on with ur setup. the computer will restart at this point and continue installation in text mode.
give necessary info if needed. finally it will finish installation and restart for the last time.
after that u will see the changes in ur operating system and built in softwares like media player.

congratulations. u have installed windows xp sp2 using installation cd.
enjoy ur new security features.
