Cryptic Fate sees itself as a Heavy Metal band pure and simple. They are not bound to any particular form of metal as in thrash or progressive but like to play the whole spectrum of the genre. As they are growing older they are getting more mature music wise and that will inevitably affect their music as time goes on. But on one count Fate will never change---they will always be quality heavy metal.
History:
It all started in February 1993, when Wahed and Sarfaraz conceived the idea of forming a Metal Band. Their friends Shakib, Farshed and Iresh joined with them and the band was formed. Shakib came up with the name “Cryptic Fate” while praying Tarabi Namaz at the mosque.
First Line up of the band:

Guitars – Waheduzzaman Khan
Guitars – Khwaja Sarfaraz Latifullah

The band is on the verge of break up after this.
1994
Shakib comes up with the tune for Cryptic Fate’s first song “Chapters of Fate”. Farshed writes the lyrics and names the song. The band gets a mixed response for their 1st composed song. Farshed Leaves for USA and the band is again on the verge of breaking down. Shakib wanted to break the band but Farshed insisted to keep on going.1995
Farshed comes back to Dhaka for summer vacation and the band decides to start working on their first album. The band works day and night and comes up with the first 8 tracks of “Ends are forever” including the chorus “Withered Alive” composed by Shakib. 1996
The band does some composing in the summer for one month only to realise that they don’t have the ability to play them yet. In December, Shakib is invited by Thrashold (a metal band) to perform in a concert in January at ICMA Auditorium.
1997
1st Concert: Cryptic Fate makes a list of 18 songs for the concert at ICMA Auditorium and practices them for 4 days. The band opens with their title track from “Ends Are Forever” and goes on to sing the whole album. The Audience goes wild and the concert was a huge success for Cryptic Fate.
Summer, 2nd Album: The band gets together in summer and re-records all the materials they had recorded in 1996. Once again they record their whole album in Soundgarden studio. They name the album “Sreshtho”.

Impressed by his skills, Shakib asks Farhan to join the band (on July 12th). Farhan gladly accepts the proposal. The band is offered a concert at the end of July. Due to absence of Sarfaraz, Cryptic fate decides to take Emon (from Jolly Rogers) as the guest lead guitarist and Farhan as the rhythm guitarist. Emon proves unable to handle the leads and Farhan is asked to take over. He does a great job and the band performs great in the concert.
The band does two more concerts in the year with help from Gibran (Dethrow) and Rinku as support guitarists.
1999
Sarfaraz and Farshed return in the summer and the band decides to organize their own concert. Together with Tantrik, Kopprophilia and Dethrow, they organize a concert in mid July. The band prepares 18 songs for the concert and blows the audience away. The concert was a huge success.
2000
Cryptic Fate performs in quite a few concerts with good success. Arafat joined the band as guest drummer. The high light of the year is the open air concert held on RAOWA Club where Fate performs 2 songs (due to time constraint). They perform “Nisshongo”, their own song and it is a huge hit.
2001
Cryptic Fate gets signed up by Pepsi. Sarfaraz was forced to leave the band because of commitment to the band. They perform (all English Songs) in a concert at Army Stadium with moderate success. The concert marked the introduction of Fate’s new drummer, Turjo.
Around the End of the year (during Ramadan), Fate is invited to Duray to contribute a song in the mixed album called “Charpatra”. Shakib composes the whole song except for the actual lead. For the 1st time Farhan takes part in the composition.
