| Valentines Day, the "holiday" may be too commercialized but it was NOT created by greeting card companies. While Saint Valentine's Day may be named for one saint named Valentine, the significance of Feb 14th relates to the literary world. In old French and old English literature, the second week of the second month was when birds began pairing off and courting and finding their mates. So, Feb 14th became a day to exchange love letters and poetry with your love-mate. I think THAT is a "Lovely" idea. That's all. But honestly, I believe if you 'Love' someone..... everyday should be a Valentines Day!! Why do we need this particular day to remind our sweethearts that we are thinking of them? Love is celebrated all year long it doesn't need a special day to be celebrated, I think! Announcing a special day for it ruins it. Personally, I'd be happier if the one I love surprised me randomly with gifts & cards not, because a particular day was fixed to do so! Angel | |||||||||||||||||||
