Default Rajasthan Royals Win First IPL Trophy., Posted June 11th, 2008, 07:52 PM #1 (permalink) |
Rajasthan Royals have created history. The team with few stars won the IPL League title.
The Rajasthan Royals won a last ball thriller to emerge champions of the inaugural DLF Indian Premier League by three wickets at Mumbai today.
Sohail Tanveer scored one run of the final ball to bring victory to Rajasthan Royals. It was a relief to see the best team in the league stage lift the trophy.

Earlier winning the toss, Shane Warne elected to field. This was a smart choice because they won eight of nine league games chasing the total. Super Kings batted well until the 15th over and had a tough time scoring in the last five hours. This was due to some excellent bowling by Tanveer and Shane Watson.
Batting second, Royals lost three wickets for 40 runs. Yusuf Pathan and Shane Watson put a decent partnership to bring Royals close to the win. Yusuf was lucky to survive two dropped catches and made a much-needed 50 runs. Shane Watson was out attempting a shot of Murali.

Finally, Shane Warne and Tanveer put a partnership towards the end to bring victory to Royals.

Rajasthan are now the champions of this ground-breaking tournament, and deservedly so as they have been the best team on view throughout the IPL. It has been a great journey for all those involved in this concept, and India can boast of hosting one of the best tournaments in world cricket today.

For picking up three wickets and scoring 56 runs, Yusuf Pathan was adjudged the Man of the Match trophy while his team-mate Shane Watson collected the Man of the Series award for scoring 472 runs to go with his 17 wickets.

I was 2nd hopper for Rajasthan after my fav team

Congratz to Rajasthan
