Do you have any medical questions?

Please provide much information as possible, including all medication, any professional advice given, and any history to best of your knowledge.

Please note: we only can advice you but can’t prescribe any medicines, unless it is very clear and can be treated with medicines with less risk that can be bought over the counter without a doctor’s prescription.

Thank you.

Sorry bro, there is a mistake somewhere because it just does not add up! Shingles (Herpes zoster) never causes skin peeling as you said. Herpes zoster is caused by Varicella Zoster Virus (VZV) and the rush will be seen in the external auditory canal, and it will never cross from this side to another. It has great risks though and if the person you are talking about has anything like what I have described then needs to go to a hospital and be treated specially for eyes as ulceration will occur and could lead to severe blindness, after the 5/7 days when it disappears you will have to keep the patient on continuous treatments as post-herpetic neuralgia is the most common complications.

Management: you haven't provided with any names so I can't say if it is right or wrong but yes a lotion is useful and the anti-viral you described if not wrong then will have to be decided by a doctor depending on how severe it is.

Conclusion: from your description I will doubt that it is shingles and advice you to take the patient to a skin specialist, as I would say from your description that it is probably Toxic epidermal necrolysis but again to be sure I will need to know if he is taking any anticonvulsant.

Sorry bro couldn't help much but do take the patient to a specialist ASAP, and if it is Herpes Zoster it is nothing to worry just needs good treatment.

Masoom: after the 5/7 days when it disappears you will have to keep the patient on continuous treatments for couple of months.

Is he on any other medication?

Name all medication he is taking or was before the symptoms?

Where is the rash?

What is the colour?

is he complaining of lost taste?

Does he have fever?

Is the eye area affected and if yes what colour?

Rahul, as Masoom said, things don’t really add up. From your description it sounds serious but no way is it herpes, or any thing to do with Vericella Virus.

One question I would like to ask, the doctor you went to is he really a professional doctor or pharmacist? If he is a doctor then you have misheard him.

I would have advised if he is not serious then just use the lotion but because he is on medication he needs to be seen by a doctor.

Please don’t take it personally but I have a feeling that you are joking or testing Masoom, because a doctor will never prescribe aciclovir for any reason you have stated. If I am wrong then sorry bro.

Rahul as you apologised I have nothing to say but do remember some time jokes could be a bad thing.

If we keep getting jokes like this then the peoples who are to advice will start doubting which one is a joke and which the truth.

Thanks
