| 5 = 1 can logically never be the correct answer. The '=' used here is an operation where y=5^x (a function). The '=' sign here is not the conventional '=' sign as shown below. Proof: The inverse function of (5^x) is ((log x)/ (log 5)) and '1' only arises for x = 5 when the function has been reversed. However, that very fact goes to prove that this indeed is a function and thus only unique 'y' values may be calculated from 5^x. If 5 indeed were equal to 1, then replacing '5' for '1' in the inverse function would also result in '1,' but because that does not happen it proves that though 1=5, 5 does not = 1. '=' merely serves as an operation and may be substituted for '*,' and is not to be taken literally. Therefore, also, x: y=5^x And When x = 5, y = 3125. | |||||||||||||||||||||
