The 2008 UEFA European Football Championship, commonly referred to as Euro 2008 and is scheduled to conclude with the final at , is the 13th edition of the UEFA European Football Championship, a quadrennial football tournament for EuropeanAustria and Switzerland, began on 7 June 2008Ernst Happel Stadion in Vienna on 29 June 2008. It is the second successful joint bid in the competition's history, following the UEFA Euro 2000 hosted by Belgium and the Netherlands. The 2012 competition in Poland and Ukraine is scheduled to become the third jointly-hosted tournament.

A total of 16 teams are participating in the tournament. Austria and Switzerland automatically qualified as hosts; the remaining 14 teams were determined through qualifying matches which began in August 2006. Austria and Poland have both made their first appearance in the tournament. The winner of Euro 2008 will represent UEFA at the 2009 FIFA Confederations Cup in South Africa, unless Italy wins the tournament, in which case the runner-up will be entered, as Italy is already entered as the winner of the 2006 FIFA World Cup.

Let's discuss predict and winner for EURO....

England ache to...

esp spain.

eije ekta news update...

In two days time, Germany's Group B campaign resumes against Croatia. It is widely expected that the same eleven will start as in the 2-0 opening-game victory over Poland.

Ballack for continuity
Captain Michael Ballack believes that, following the successful start to the competition, German coach Joachim Löw shouldn't rock the boat. "No real reason to make any changes to the set-up," the Chelsea FC midfielder said. The team coach himself hasn't abandoned the possibility of making changes, though, based on good performances in training. Could he mean Bastian Schweinsteiger? The FC Bayern München player is getting stronger on a daily basis.

Schweinsteiger versus Fritz
There is plenty of speculation about who will operate on the right flank. Clemens Fritz impressed against Poland, playing well and causing a constant threat. Shortly after the break, though, he had to make way for Schweinsteiger who proved provider for Lukas Podolski’s second goal. The question remains: Who is the right man for the Croatia game? Have your say below.

here is the schedule for germany

England din't qualify...they were third in their qulifying group...er cheye khushir khobor ar kichu hoite pare na...hopefully same thing will repeat in world cup 2010 ...

portugal n croatia have already made it to the quarter finals...interesting thing is both the world champions n defending euro champions have lost their first game...italy will take on romania today who tied their first game against france (wish these jacka$$es din't qualify either)...

group mathces r over for groups A and B...Portugal finishes off as #1 in group A despiter their loss to swiss in their last game...they'll face germany in the 1st quarter final on thursday as germany become team #2 of group B...2nd quarter final is b/w Croatia and Turkey, who had a dramatic come back in their last game against czech n shocked everyone...
as for Group C and D, dutch and spanish have already made it to quarter final...one of the most interesting group matches may take place today b/w france and italy, as both teams r on the verge to be outta euro cup...as dutch already made it to QF, they don't need to win against romania today...they can really screw both french n italians if they lose their game on purpose today...in that case regardless of the result of the france vs italy game, both teams will be out...these two will be out even if they tie their game and romania loses against dutch...interesting ...
