Tables may be turning
With Chelsea earning just three points from a possible nine over the festive period, Sir Alex Ferguson has warned the Londoners' luck may be running out.
“They’ve had some incredible fortune in the last couple of years, scoring in the last minute against Wigan and Spurs last season, scoring in the first two minutes against us at the end of last season…things like that,” Sir Alex told Inside United.
However, despite similarly late winners against Wigan and Everton in December, the tables may slowly be turning. In recent matches against Reading, Fulham and Aston Villa, Chelsea have failed to capitalise on a glut of goal-scoring opportunities.
Meanwhile, the United boss claims the Reds have been dealt a number of tough tests this season.
“I don’t think we’ve had any real luck in games,” Sir Alex says. “In terms of injuries, we started off without the full squad. Gaby Heinze wasn’t fit, we’ve had problems with Gary Neville and then Ji-sung Park and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer got injuries.
“But we’ve coped really well because the squad has got stronger and more experienced, so when players are out we’re handling it much better.”
