World Cup organisers have admitted a venue will not be ready in time and an alternative is being sought.
The Brian Lara stadium in southern Trinidad was set to host warm-up matches ahead of the tournament, which starts on 11 March.
But the matches will now be moved to another venue on the island.
World Cup chief Chris Dehring said: "Notwithstanding the odd bump or two, the Cricket World Cup train is building a powerful head of steam."
The stadium, in southern Trinidad, was set to host warm-up games involving Pakistan, South Africa, Ireland and Canada.
But building work had been behind schedule and inspectors realised this month it would not be ready in time.
"It certainly validates the monitoring process which is in place and shows that CWC has the situation under control," said Dehring.
It is believed to be the only venue which organisers had serious concerns about being finished on time.
Sabina Park in Jamaica and Grenada National Stadium have also suffered construction problems but they are both now on track to be completed on schedule.
Dehring added: "Earlier this year, other stadia were considerably behind in their construction schedules but, under careful monitoring, they are now on track."
The Queen's Park Oval in Trinidad will be used for group B matches involving Sri Lanka, India, Bangladesh and Bermuda. |
