Default They are the players of a civilized country!!!!!!!!!, Posted November 9th, 2006, 02:38 PM #1 (permalink) |
The world champions nudged and pushed Board of Control for Cricket in India president Sharad Pawar during the ceremony prize giving ceremony of the Champions Trophy.

Australian captain Ricky Ponting first pointed his finger at Pawar, directing him to handover the winners trophy and then Damien Martyn nudged Pawar down the dais.

The players of a “so called” civilized country did not fear that their shameless behavior is going to broadcast on TV all over the world.

what was he doing in the middle anyway?? why is sachin dragging himself into this. he should rather focus on his batting, and winning games for india.

think aussies didnt misbehave and it was unintentional as who can wait for 23 minutes delay in getting cup even after winning the match and eager to celebrate?
indian cricket must learn a lesson...had it been a former player like sunny or kapil in place of powar, the aussies wouldn't have behaved that way as they knew their merit.Which aus player knows this politician is BCCI man.so fill BCCI posts with former players and not with politicians.

Mr,

I don’t mind if some1 criticize my nation when my nation is really faulty. I will give you answer one by one:

1.“what was he doing in the middle anyway??”
He was on the stage to handover the trophy. And in that prize giving ceremony he was the most respected person.

2. “why is sachin dragging himself into this. he should rather focus on his batting, and winning games for india.”…
After making 75 international centuries I don’t think anyone have the right to advice Sachin to concentrate on bating. It is so hilarious. I don’t know about any cricketer who scored half of international centuries than Sachin. So why should we bother about Sachin’s focus???
When the whole nation is protesting against the humiliation of such a veteran and respected political leader then if sachin remain silent on that matter, I would have called him “SELFISH”.

3. “think aussies didnt misbehave and it was unintentional as who can wait for 23 minutes delay in getting cup even after winning the match and eager to celebrate?”
Everyone saw in the TV that what Aussies did, I don’t need to comment on that. After the match 23 minutes delay is not a great deal. It is natural. Anyone need some time to arrange such function in the middle of the field. Next time you should count how much time a South African or an England organizer need after match.

U have the whole night to celebrate. You are the captain of a team. How could you gesture one to hand over the trophy. How can one push one to move from the screen who is only there to hand over the trophy.

After the incident, as a right gentleman Mr power nullify the fact of humiliation rather he take the side of Aussie team and told that it happened in a instance of excitement. Just imagine how much gentleman he is and they humiliate such a gentleman.

4. indian cricket must learn a lesson...had it been a former player like sunny or kapil in place of powar, the aussies wouldn't have behaved that way as they knew their merit.Which aus player knows this politician is BCCI man.so fill BCCI posts with former players and not with politicians”.

The matter of fact is Mr Sharod Power is far more better cricket board manager though kapil and Sunny are greatest players of India. He made the BCCI, the richest cricket board of world (It is not a demand. It is a fact). He is not the Big boss of Indian cricket. Forget about respected person, Aussie player first need to learn to respect an older person.

And thank you for your suggestion Mr. But you first should know what a person like Mr Sharod Power did before commenting what we should do and why not. To manage a organization like BCCI properly is not a job of any good former cricketer but a person with good management qualities like Mr Sharod Power.

I am not sure that what we should leant from this incident bur I think “so called’ civilized Aussies must have learnt that if you want to come to India you have to respect the values of India. You can not do the same what you habituated to do in your nation. And from the nation wide protest, there is a strong message that” IF YOU R A GUEST THEN STAY AS WELL MANNERED AS A GUEST”.

Ponting makes peace with Pawar

After trying more than a dozen times on Wednesday Australian captain Ricky Ponting finally got the opportuntiy to apologise to BCCI chief Sharad Pawar on the phone on Thursday over the incident during the presentation of the Champions Trophy last Sunday.

Peter Young, Cricket Australia spokesperson told AAP that Pawar has now accepted Ponting's assurance that no disrespect was intended. "It was a very amicable telephone call and the two of them decided they would take a sporting approach and move on, " he said.

"Ricky offered an apology on behalf of himself and the team and it was accepted in good spirit." Ponting's apology comes close on the heels of Martyn's who, on Thursday, had said that he was sorry for any misconduct . On Friday Indian media had quoted top BCCI officials saying that Pawar had indeed spoken to Ponting, and as far as the BCCI was concerned the matter was closed.

Ponting and his team-mate Damien's Martyn's conduct, where they were seen trying to usher Pawar off the victory podium in their eagerness to celebrate, drew ire from the Indian officials and media. Pawar, himself had called the Australians' attitude as "totally uncivilised".

Ponting, who arrived back home on Tuesday, said there was no offence intended and he was unaware there was a problem until he saw the television footage of the incident on Thursday morning. "It doesn't look great on television, but I think the more times you look at it, you probably realise that there's no intent to offend anybody," he said.

"We all probably got a little bit caught up in the excitement of the moment. That's why I think it's so important for me to be in personal contact (with Pawar) and if there is anything lingering on, to get it sorted out as quickly as we can."

It is always appreciable if some1 accept his mistake. Hope this type of unfortunate incident will never happen to anyone in future.
