Madhuri Dixit is reminiscent to the wide flashing smile that can brighten your day. Her chart-busting songs-n can make one look enthusiastically forward to an entertaining time. Along with accomplished performances Madhuri soared to the top of her career until she decided to plug out and settle in marital bliss. She gave up her career as the numero uno actress five years ago. But she is back again for good, loosing the extra kilos and regaining back her career with a Yashraj film ‘Aa Nachle’ to be directed by cinematographer Anil Mehta. She plays the role of a dance instructor in the film. She talks and lots more.Excerpts from an Interview:
Why did you choose Aa Nachle as the comeback film?
That is because I’ve already worked with Yashji and know the modus operandi of his banner. The best part is that they stick to it that they complete the film within the given timeframe. Another factor is that the film will be shot entirely in Mumbai and so I won’t have to venture out leaving my kids alone. The script also worked perfect for my comeback. Needless to say I’m excited to work with Anil Mehta who has proved through his work in films like, Veer Zaara, Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna. I’m all set for it.
Will you be working full-fledged or do films at intervals?
Nothing is planned yet. But surely I’ll not be doing four-five a year like before. I’ve to take care of my kids. While they start their school I’ll have to around. Maybe I’ll make another comeback after that.
How did the first day shooting of the film go?
I was a bit anxious and there were butterflies in my stomach. Facing the camera after five years had me excited. I was nervous during the first take, but gradually everything was fine. Acting is like swimming, you never forget it. When I reached the sets of Aaja Naachley, I was touched to see Yashji, who came personally to greet me. I had to do an interactive scene with my co-actors in the film. It was an important scene in the film. When I finished the first take, everyone present at the shooting clapped. It was a very emotional moment for me.
Did your kids miss you?
I reached the sets around 6.30 pm, shot through the night and reached home at 8 in the morning. When I left, it was time for my kids to sleep. They were not even aware that I was out shooting all night. So, next morning they woke up and came to my room. When my elder son saw me sleeping he whispered into my ear, 'Mommy, good morning why are you still sleeping? Get up, mommy.' And then he tried to open my eyelids, finally I had to get up. Since the time I have become a mother I have never been away from my kids. But I am lucky that the first schedule of the film requires a night shift. After that I will take my kids along with me. Yashji has been very kind and has got a toy house installed for my kids.
Do you find the process of has changed in the five years?
Certainly. People have become very professional. There is a new breed of talented directors and actors. Also Multiplexes have contributed in changing the scenario. Nothing is take it easy kind like it was before. I would say the economics have changed, surely for the better. How do you feel getting into the limelight again?
Dealing with the media, I’ve faced it all before. It’s part of an actor’s life. I’ll handle it.
Anything you want to convey to your audience?
Let’s hope the audience accepts me and I get their support the way it was before. I don't need to prove anything but I know that people expect certain things from me and I am trying to live up to those.
