But Sahana's latest album of Tagore songs is different compared to many of the other audio albums in the market. She did not try to be adventurous with the songs and has tried to present the numbers in a very conventional way. She has given importance to the emotion and the correct pronunciation of the words.
She has presented ten songs in her melodious voice and the audience can feel her devotion to Tagore songs after listening CD. Both her accent and delivery of the lyrics are excellent. Her tune is also attractive.
Sahana's selection of songs deserves appreciation too. She has sung 'Oi je jharer meghe', 'Mor bhabnare', 'Eto din base chhilam', 'Tomar khola hawa', 'Amar nishith rater badaldhara', 'Tomarei kariachhi jibaner dhrubatara', 'Tumi, kon pathe je ele', 'Phoole phoole chale chale', 'Aaj joytsna rate' and 'Kon puratan praner tane'. All these songs are arranged and mixed by Ornob.
Brought up in Santiniketan, the singer has the most precious experience. According to Sahana, everywhere music is in the air. 'We were fortunate enough to be a part of it,' is her simple observation.
According to her, this album is not only about singing but also an expression of her endeavour to explore the dynamism of Rabindra Sangeet. 'This has been quite a long journey for us,' she continued, 'we have tried here to portray all the various influences of different musical elements. We have tried to create enough space for musicians to interpret the songs in their own ways.' Hopefully, the audience will enjoy the album.
